Today is a momentous day. I need to walk back my previous comments about not really liking Barbie dolls. My friend Catherine and I met for brunch this morning at Sharon’s Café. Catherine is an avid Barbie doll collector who has dolls dating back almost to the original doll. She has a replica of the original as well. Catherine has taken great care to display many of her dolls, their furniture, and their accessories in a custom-made dollhouse, and she also creates Barbie dioramas to celebrate each holiday. She happened to have an NBA Barbie dressed in a Utah Jazz uniform, still in its original box and never displayed. Knowing that I am a devoted Utah Jazz fan — note the crossbody J-Note bag and Jordan Clarkson jersey — Catherine surprised me by giving me her NBA Barbie as a gift. I now have a Barbie doll that I absolutely love!! I also am not-so-secretly wondering if any of the Barbie enthusiasts who specialize in making doll clothes could create a mini Clarkson uniform because Barbie has to represent!! That is probably the only reason this Barbie would come out of her box. I may be a 48-year old woman who is late to the Barbie party, but I am absolutely giddy and grateful about receiving this doll. Thank you, Catherine!! I am equally giddy about the upcoming Utah Jazz season. I look forward to seeing what our talented team will do.
