Cinco de Mayo: La Hacienda

My friend Sarah and I kicked off the weekend and raised a glass to Cinco de Mayo at La Hacienda in Salt Lake City. It was the first time either of us had been to this restaurant, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. La Hacienda is an established Salt Lake City restaurant serving a selection of Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican cuisine. Authentic Mexican dishes seem to be more prevalent on the menu, and I even found some items I haven’t commonly seen on other Mexican restaurant menus in Salt Lake City — quesadillas de masa. That took me back to good times spent over three summers in Guadalajara, Mexico in the early 2000’s. Sarah and I found La Hacienda to have a warm, inviting atmosphere where the staff extended genuine hospitality to us from the beginning to the end of the experience.

Each of us started with a frozen margarita that we agreed had a perfect balance of tequila, lime, and salt. Sarah ordered the carne asada tacos which she loved. I ordered the enchiladas entomatadas. The spiciness of the sauce surprised me, and a generous portion of sliced jalapeños added to the heat, but the flavor was delicious. The rice also caught my attention for being particularly fluffy and savory.

This was our first time at La Hacienda, but we know that it won’t be our last. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for good Mexican food and beverages on the west side of Salt Lake City.

You can find La Hacienda at 1248 South Redwood Road, and there is a second location in Draper Crossing. Find both locations on Facebook for more information.
